Walking down an aisle isn't rocket science, but it can really freak some people out on the morning of the big day. I totally get it, whether you're a bridesmaid, groomsmen or the couple themselves, being the centre of attention to a space full of people watching you can seem daunting. But don't stress! I have some tips to make you feel prepped and ready to strut your stuff down that aisle!

1. GO SLOW
Most important tip; take your time!
You know that super slow old fashioned wedding march? Well it's slow for a reason. When people are nervous, they rush. If you walk too fast I'll only be able to get one blurry photo of you and that's not what we want. This is a fun and exciting moment so soak it in and give me a chance to capture all the nerves and happiness of the moment.

2. SMILE
This may seem like a given but much like rushing when you're nervous, most people don't smile when they're stressed. If you're thinking about tripping the whole time then you won't smile, and in the photos you'll look like you're just annoyed at the wedding. So show me those pearly whites as you're walking!

3. BOUQUETS TO BELLYBUTTONS
We're back to nerves again because when we're nervous we tense up, and when you're holding something your arms will tense with it. At almost every wedding I tell the bouquet holders to relax your arms, shake it out, and where your arms come together naturally is around your bellybutton. Otherwise you tense up and the flowers end up under your chin or hiding your face.

4. LOOK UP
I know this agiain seems like a given but if you're thinking about tripping you'll be looking at the floor, if you're looking at the floor then you're going to look anxious in your photos. Just look at me! Or your partner.
I'll be at the top of the aisle next to them so forget about everyone else and keep your head held high.
5.GET IN LINE
What order do you go in?
Generally it goes like this:
Groom
Groomsmen
Ring bearer
Flower Girl
Bridesmaids
Maid of Honour
Bride & Escort

6. DON'T WORRY
So many of my couples are so nervous about the walk down the aisle but at the end of the day when I ask them what their favourite moment of the day is they often answer with ; walking down the aisle and seeing their partner at the end of it.
So for all the nerves and concerns, tips and tricks for walking down the aisle, just remember in this case it's not the journey that matters...it's what you're walking towards.
