I am so excited to share this gorgeous laughter filled wedding of Maria and Ruairí. I've always found that the more fun I have with couples, the better the photos...and this wedding definitely proves my theory! 

The day started with getting ready in Maria's family home, then over to the beautiful Lady Chapel in Maynooth and finally to the reception in the wonderful Dunboyne Castle. 

You could tell this was such a joyous occasion for everyone involved, as they were all bursting with tears and laughter the whole day. I found both families to be so welcoming that I felt like one of the gang by the end of the day. A big thank you to everyone for letting me be part of such a special occasion, and to

Congratulations Maria and Ruairí!!

Helen and Steve got married in the gorgeous Avon Rí in Co.Wicklow on the 1st of July this year, which so happened to be the wedding anniversary of Helens parents. Helen and Steve (or Stanto as he's known) were teenage sweethearts and had their first kiss in Belgrave Square, Rathmines in 2002 and have been inseparable ever since. I know this because I was there that day, but I never knew that someday I would have the pleasure of photographing their wedding!

All the personal details that Helen, Stanto and their family and friends put together for the big day made it 100% unique. From the rainbow roses adorned with charms of their loved ones made by their friend Lisa, the beautiful invitations and CDs as favours, the stunning Hello Kitty cake topper handmade by their friend Kate which had the groom (Dear Stanto) wearing a Runnin' Riot back-patch in commemoration of their friend Colin Riot who passed away in 2014 to the gorgeous hand wedding rings handcrafted by the couple themselves.

They had an awesome gig at the drinks reception featuring Droppin' Bombs and the groom playing drums in The Dubtones plus a rockin' dance party with the band Prom Night and a DJ set by their friend Thomas.

Not to mention the big surprise of the day as Helens parents' along with her friend Raychel, managed to organise a card of congratulations from Damien Dempsey!

So much effort was made by everyone to make this a truly unforgettable day for this wonderful couple, and I hope their lives together are filled with as much laughter and tears of joy as they had on their special day.

Niamh and Andrew are such a wonderful couple, their day was full of laughs, tears and loads of thoughtful personal touch's which made it truly special. Their ceremony was the first to be held in the newly renovated Dundrum Church with it's vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and bright ethereal atmosphere made for a really elegant wedding.

We then took a quick trip up to Marlay Park where the weather held out just long enough for us to get some great photos with the house and grounds. I really enjoyed this wedding, and I tried to reflect all the efforts made by the couple and their family and friends in these photos.

It's been a crazy month for Emma May Photography, firstly one of my awesome weddings was chosen to be featured in the super cool One Fab Day Saturday Selection, then I was honoured to be accepted into Fearless photographers and to be part of such a groundbreaking association, and finally my favourite Dun Laoghaire wedding was chosen to be featured on WeddingDates.ie, almost in time for the couple's first wedding anniversary!

I'd like to say a huge thank you to all my couple's for being so open to sharing their special days not just with me but with all the blogs and couple's who are yet to have their big day.

This may be a flashback from last year but this wedding had so many cool vintage features that I decided I had to share it in my blog!

It all started at my favourite Blue Church (Our Lady of the Wayside Kilternan) and the arrival of the Groomsman in style.

 the gorgeous exterior to the stained glass windows make it the perfect location for a beautifully intimate church ceremony. After a quick drive into town to The Shelbourne Hotel and a well deserved drink for the newlyweds, we headed into St.Stephens Green for photo's. It's  always fun to do a wedding shoot somewhere you've been a thousand times but now get to enjoy in a different way, especially with seagulls and cheering crowds to deal with!

The reception was held in The Constitution Room which was  perfect for a 2016 wedding.

There were so many personal touch's put together by the Bride from the muslin table runners to the DIY heart confetti from her Grandmother's favourite book; Wuthering Heights. The cakes were baked by their family and professionally iced by The Cake Cuppery...such a good idea!

Sarah and Ian had a beautiful winter wedding in the set theatre on langtons house hotel in Kilkenny.

The gatsby  era art deco style of the theatre made for a wonderfully romantic and quirky venue, perfect for couples looking for somewhere a bit alternative.

i had such a great time photographing their big day, and even the cold didn't get in the way of some great photos around Kilkenny Castle.

Some inspiration for bride's to be includes Sarah's stunning brooch bouquets and the totally original guest book, check it out!

This two day wedding in Dublin City was truly unique!

 It started at the Dublin Registry Office, followed by a walk through Trinity College to l'Gueuleton on Fleet Street.

The second day started with the Groomsmen in McDaids pub, then over to the Bridal party in Kelly's Hotel and finally the ceremony and reception at The Drury Buildings.

There were so many great moments to this double day affair that I have been bursting to share them all...enjoy!

 Day Two:

This was a beautiful, elegant Autumn wedding in The Millhouse Slane, filled with sunshine, laughs, personal touches and even a carousel of sweets! 

It's always extra special when I get to photograph a wedding for friends; so what better way to start my blog than with Kayleigh and Neal in Dublin City Centre. The ceremony was in the stunning City Hall on Dame street and the ultra chic Dean Hotel on Harcourt street. 

I've been looking forward to finally getting a wedding in City Hall, as I haven't set foot inside since a school trip many (many) years ago. I recommend any couple thinking of having a Dublin wedding to consider this hugely overlooked venue,not only for the perfect location but for the epic interior.

The ceremony was a pleasure to photograph; the couple were full of smiles and giggles, and there was more than one tear shed amongst the guests. After all the hugs, congratulations and a few couple only shots in City Hall we headed for The Dean Hotel on Harcourt street.

 Purse first!

The Dean Hotel has ultra chic rooms with a cool retro feel, but still has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, which matched the wedding perfectly!

Kayleigh and her family had collected and created the hanging decorations, lanterns and geometric candle holders as well as the gorgeous wedding favours. These personal DIY touches echo a couples personality, and make the reception extra special.

 I was so excited to photograph the awesome neon sign in the reception area, I used my favourite lighting technique to really bring out the couple and give it a retro cinematic style. 

Kayleigh and Neal created a unique, creative and memorable wedding truly befitting of such an awesome couple.
